We would like to present an interesting proposal to you:
A one-week stay on the Wolin Island in June, enjoying the International Festival of Choral Song in Międzyzdroje, as well as working on an interesting and demanding program together with young singers from Poland, France, Germany and America.
You may be interested in our project, which has fascinated and enthralled thousands of people for the last 13 years. Its name is the:
Polish–German Choral Academy "in terra pax".
The academy was founded in 1991, after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the ‘iron curtain’, by the following musicians: prof. Ludwig Güttler (Dresden), prof. Jan Szyrocki (Szczecin), Wolfgang Unger (Leipzig), Volker Schmidt-Gertenbach (Göttingen), and Werner Pfaff (Karlsruhe).
Since then, ‘In Terra Pax’ has enabled many young people from Poland, Germany, and later France and the US, to make contact with each other. The bridges of friendship have been and are still built through common work on significant choral pieces and performing together.
The choir of the Polish–German Choral Academy ‘In Terra Pax’ gathers every year. Internationally famous choral conductors work with the choir on a challenging a cappella repertoire that changes every year. Moreover, each year the group is honored to give the first performance of a piece by a Polish composer, written especially for us.
If you are interested in the project, and would like to popularize the idea, we will be more than happy to welcome you amongst us.
‘In Terra Pax’ workshops
We work intensely for six days (up to seven hours a day) in a sincere, warm-hearted atmosphere. The prepared program is then presented at the International Festival of Choral Song in Międzyzdroje before a sophisticated audience. Additionally, every evening we have an opportunity to listen to festival concerts of choirs from all corners of the world.
We live and work near the beautiful Baltic Sea in the hotel “Slavia”. Accommodation and food are free, however, there is a participation fee and all singers cover their own travel costs. Additional information will be provided together with an application form.
We invite singers aged 18 to 40 (there is no age limit for conductors) with approximately four–years of experience in choral music, the ability to read music, and the ability to prepare their part individually. Quartets from choirs are given priority, however, single applications are taken into consideration as well. The music will be sent directly to the successful applicants. Additionally, we offer a study CD and participation in the preparatory weekend in Steinheim/Westf.
Concert Tours in France or Germany
Additionally there will be a one week concert tour in either France, Germany or maybe even other european countries. The destination for our concert tour is changing. Please take a look in the news section for details.
Are you interested? Would you like to take part in the project?
If you answered yes, all the further details can be found here, where you can contact us and request an application form, which will be sent to you.
We look forward to hearing from you!
